What Is MHHS?

MHHS is an Ofgem-led programme that changes how electricity usage is settled across the energy market.

From late 2025 through 2027, all business electricity meters — including smart meters — will move to Half-Hourly settlement, meaning your energy use will be tracked and billed every 30 minutes.

For some, this will result in more accurate bills. For others, particularly those with larger or outdated metering infrastructure, it could mean thousands in avoidable annual charges.

Why This Matters to Your Business

You may be affected if:
You currently have a CT (Current Transformer) HH meter.
Your site uses less than 50 kW but pays for 150+ kVA capacity.
You’ve not reviewed your standing charges or capacity in the last 12 months.

In many cases, businesses are:
Paying £3,000–£4,500 annually in fixed charges for unused capacity.
Holding infrastructure that’s no longer fit for purpose.
Missing out on opportunities to downgrade to a more efficient meter type.
